An ecumenical and interfaith prayer vigil for Climate Healing will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 . from 6.00pm to 800pm at Karrawirra Peace Park, North Adelaide, opposite the Women’s and Children’s Hospital on Sir Edwin Smith Avenue, near the Sri Chinmoy plaque.
We will gather at the North end of Karrawirra (Park 12).
Please gather either at a place in the city which is representative of your faith communities at 5.30pm, then make your way to the Peace Park or go directly to the Peace Park opposite the Women’s and Children’s Hospital,
From there we will walk quietly, perhaps with candles or lights, to a spot on the north bank of the river, Karrawirra Park 12, meeting at 6pm.
Each community is invited to bring a flask of water, symbolizing our connection with the divine according to our own tradition. You are also invited to wear clothes distinctive of your tradition.
There we will observe some silence, have acknowledgement of country by a Kaurna elder, and join in a circle to pray. There will be a symbolic pouring of water into a single vessel, which will then be poured into the river by the Kaurna elder, symbolizing our prayers for healing of our common home.
There will be some time to reflect together with each other and hear a few words by Dr. Deidre Palmer, president of the Uniting Church. After the conclusion, we will have a picnic by lamplight.
Daylight saving will be over, but it is likely to still be mild
